Opportunity in Small Package?
Life is interesting. I never dreamed that I would be considered a maternity, baby or infant photographer. During the mid 90’s, I would squeeze in an occasional child session for established clients but all in all wedding photography was my forte. Despite a career as a labor & delivery nurse still I stayed away from developmental stages, feeding schedules and nap times… until summer 2008.
Having received another little one into our household, I’m finding that I’m spending more time recording images of “baby firsts.” Fate would force one to ascend to higher photographic heights. The Nikon’s D3 with its low light abilities enables me to capture low-light intimate images that require little or if any postproduction. While my portfolio for child, infant and maternity portraiture isn’t exactly bulging, I am accumulating a fair amount and variety of shooting experience. I am also learning to plan around issues that influence a successful session. And patience, yes, there is a call from our Heavenly Host to practice counting backward from at least a zillion and one.
There’s got to be a moral to this adventure. You never know where life’s adventure will lead. I’ve learn to make the best of all situations and to be extremely grateful of any growth opportunities.
