Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Late entry but Thursday’s ribbon cutting ceremony for Amy’s Touch went well. Thanks goodness for a backup camera. My battery pack went screwy so I seamlessly switched to Plan B. That’s why you should always contract with a pro. Does an amateur have a well rehearsed Plan B. Rhetorical of course!

Evelyn's Retirement at Homeplace

Friday afternoon was spent covering Evelyn DeVries’ retirement party at Homeplace Special Care Facility in Oak Harbor. Evelyn is retiring after ten years of dedicated service. Her friends, family, and community leaders, as well as family and friends of clients, gathered to express their gratitude and support for all that she has done to make Homeplace that SPECIAL PLACE.

First Outdoor Session for 2010

Sunday afternoon was interesting. Sunday was also my first outdoor session for 2010. Despite a blustery rainy wintry shivery windy Whidbey type day, as Pooh Bear would say, your favorite photographer treaded forth.

Have you ever been impressed by what another person wears? Well I have. There was a six year boy in my son’s school who always wore penny loafers. Come rain or shine he sported penny loafers. My son and I secretly nicknamed him Penny Loafer Reilly.

Well today, despite rain or shine, I had an opportunity to photograph Penny Loafer Reilly and his beautiful family in the wind and rain. So there we stood on the West Beach side of Joseph Whidbey Sate Park with umbrellas in-hand, being tossed gently by the elements, with Reilly’s loafers being polka dotted with rain drops.

I think I might start doing more brave and adventurous things…perhaps even sport a pair of Penny Loafers. After all my wardrobe could use a bit of spice!

Fans of Equestrian Crossings!

Fans of Equestrian Crossings! Friday night's EqCrossing Showcase went well. Joshua, Miguel and I were a little underdressed but we enjoyed the events and we are hoping to post some images soon…that is once I take the red eye out. (Using an on camera flash can create redeye in a low light situation, especially with animals, children and young adults.

Business After Hours

I followed the multi-colored footprints in pursuit of Business After Hours and ended up at Dan’s Classic Ballroom. We had great food, a tango demo but most of all a great bunch of people gathered in support!

More Face-Time

Today's adventures involved a brief stop at the La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum. A client, Nancy Luenn, had three beautiful quilts on display. Follow her blog for more details at http://storyquilts.blogspot.com.

Face-Time is wonderful. Funny what how small the REAL-TIME world is. I was reacquainted with an old creative writing partner, Natalie Olsen. A close friend, who also doubles as my model and event helper, was there with her father my church's piano player. Oh yes, I should promote Natalie's custom weaving art business. http://www.natalieolsen.com/index.htm

Visit the museum if you're near La Conner.

Museum hours are Wednesday – Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. For more information: http://www.laconnerquilts.com or 360-466-4288.

The show opens on January 13 and runs through March 28, 2010. The artists' reception is Saturday, January 16 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. There will be beautiful fiber art pieces on display, created by members of Whidbey Island Surface Design Association. I hope you can come and see the show!

Two Open House Events in 48 Hours!

The WICC open house was a blazing success. We had plenty of food, friendly conversation and art. A big thanks to all attendees.

OH-MAZING…sounds familiar. Loaded the boys in the family van and headed for OHHS’s Grand Re-Opening. We had a great time nibbling cafeteria samples, grooving to band music, conducting chemistry experiments, playing on computers, taking part in green screen experiments in the Wildcat TV room, touring the JROTC quarters. Two hours later we headed home, fulfilled, knowing we truly had a once in a life time adventure in our own backyard. Thanks OHHS for an eye-opening adventure.

Face-Time with Island Transit

Saturday evening was spent at The Dugualla Clubhouse putting in Face-Time with my wonderful friends of Island Transit. Some folks use Facebook but I prefer Face-Time. I’m sort of ole school like that. Chuck and Sandra are retiring after many years of dedicated service.

Follow this link for the rest of the story.

Little Caesars Pizza Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Had time to put my brakes on for the Little Caesars Pizza Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. My son is a big fan of their cheese pizza. He was expecting samples. He walked away Winnie the Pooh style with a grumbly in his tummy... I might have to stop taking him on these assignments.

Whidbey Golf and Country Club’s New Year Celebration

The Whidbey Golf and Country Club’s New Year celebration will be the talk of Oak Harbor for weeks to come! Filled with good music, wine, fine food and casino tables….what else could a New Year celebrator ask for? You’re right, the HOUSE needed Pendleton Imaging & Photography there clicking, keeping in step, and documenting the happenings! The band LifeLyke jammed the house ‘til way past midnight and the casino tables kept hopefuls digging deeper ‘til the NYC ball dropped.
